Steve Nunn plays 85 minutes with a broken leg!

The third round Touchline Sports Cup against Senior status Melton St Audrys was always going to be a hard match with Melton riding high and third in the Senior league but the Army put in a proud performance and were unlucky to lose 2-1. Much of the credit goes to the centre half pairing of Steve Nunn and Lee Warren whose performances did much to blunt the St Audrys attacks. In fact the credit is all the more deserving as it turned out that Steve played 85 minutes with a broken leg!

Steve was aware that something was not quite right after a 50-50 tackle, a fair tackle Steve was quick to mention, ended with the studs of the Melton striker catching Steve’s ankle and at half time complained to the Manager that his ankle was really sore. When the Manager asked if he wanted to be replaced Steve declined stating he would be ok!

In the evening after the game Steve’s ankle ‘blew up’ and after a visit to the Hospital it was confirmed that he had broken the base of his tibia.

Steve, we knew you were special, but playing with a broken leg is just legendary. We all wish you a speedy recovery.
